The private information of nearly 3 billion people was sold on the dark web following a data breach at Florida-based background check company, National Public Data. The breach, considered one of the largest ever, included names, social security numbers, and addresses. A class action lawsuit has been filed against the company, demanding data protection improvements, compensation, and a cybersecurity framework review until 2034. National Public Data hasn’t publicly acknowledged the breach yet.
