The phishing malware ‘Inferno Drainer’, used for cryptocurrency related scams, operated from November 2022 to November 2023. More than 16,000 domains connected to at least 100 cryptocurrency brands were impersonated for its activities. Using legitimate Web3 protocols, it deceived users into linking their wallets and approving fraudulent transactions. Although its developer has closed it down, its clients are still using it to steal non-fungible tokens and cryptocurrencies.
