Mount Sinai team creates AI algorithm to detect sleep disorder

REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) causes abnormal movements during sleep and may indicate early Parkinson’s or dementia. Diagnosing RBD is challenging due to limitations in current screening methods. Mount Sinai researchers developed an algorithm using standard 2-D video data to accurately identify RBD with 91.9% accuracy, improving clinical diagnosis and potential early intervention strategies.
