Most credentials stolen using infostealing malware, report finds

The number of stolen online credentials increased by 33% in 2024, reaching 2.1 billion, many of which were extracted via malware-infected devices. The majority of compromised devices were Windows-based corporate systems. The most common malware was Redline, which accounted for 43% of cases. The 2024 Snowflake breach, which affected multiple key organizations, was facilitated by stolen credentials.
