Morris Hospital informs 248,000 patients of data breach

Morris Hospital in Illinois is warning patients and employees that their personal information may have been involved in a recent cybersecurity incident. An unauthorized party exported data from the hospital’s network system to an external cloud storage platform, potentially exposing information such as names, addresses, social security numbers, and medical records. There is currently no evidence of misuse, but the hospital is offering identity theft resolution services to affected individuals. Healthcare data breaches have become increasingly costly, with the average breach now costing $4.4 million.
