Missouri system lays off 10% of workforce

Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Missouri is laying off 10 staff, equal to 10% of its entire workforce, due to the challenges of excess staffing, reduced patient volumes, decreased reimbursement and payment delays. The firm has instigated actions to limit impact, including cutting overtime, consolidating roles, not replacing certain positions and reducing expenses. The employees affected will be chosen based on seniority, performance ratings and consolidated roles. Notice is expected to be given within about 24 hours.
