Microsoft: Legacy account hacked by Russian APT had no MFA

Microsoft has confirmed that the hacked account of legacy test tenant from earlier this month, which is believed to have been compromised by Russian state-affiliated threat actor Midnight Blizzard, did not have multifactor authentication (MFA) enabled. The company claimed that such a tenant would not be as vulnerable today due to mandatory Microsoft policies ensuring MFA.
