Microsoft fixes exploited zero-day (CVE-2024-49138)

Microsoft’s December 2024 Patch Tuesday addressed 71 vulnerabilities including a zero-day (CVE-2024-49138) that was being exploited to execute high privilege code. It was tracked to the Windows Common Log File System driver and could have been exploited remotely or locally. Although two other flaws were patched, they weren’t being exploited at the time. A Windows Lightweight Directory Access Protocol vulnerability (CVE-2024-49112) was also highlighted for quick patching.
