International researchers led by the Hudson Institute of Medical Research have developed a computational metabolite exchange scoring system to identify and understand the interaction between gut microbes. This could potentially offer therapeutic approaches for a range of diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease and cancer. The team is also collaborating with biotechnology firm BiomeBank to develop new ways to treat and prevent disease by restoring gut microbial ecology.
