MedStar Health forced to turn patients away after virus attack

MedStar Health is gradually restoring functionality of its computers after being hit by malware, causing the healthcare provider to turn away patients. MedStar’s 10 hospitals and over 250 outpatient centers were forced to shut down their computers and email on Monday. The code has not been confirmed as ransomware, however, with recent instances of that style of attack, including the Hollywood Presbyterian case, it is highly possible.
