Two months after a cyberattack on UnitedHealth subsidiary, Change Healthcare, which processes nearly a third of all US patient records annually, local doctors say they are still struggling financially, even though UnitedHealth told shareholders that business has returned to normal. The cyberattack disrupted the practice of claims settlement, forcing insurers to manually send claim forms by post. The attack cost UnitedHealth $870m, with costs expected to top $1bn. UnitedHealth reported revenues of $99.8bn for Q1 2024. Providers have reportedly had to take out loans to meet expenses despite receiving $7bn in relief from UnitedHealth.
