A Russian man, Aleksandr Ermakov, has been named and sanctioned under a first-of-its-kind Australian cyber sanctions legislation for a massive data breach at the country’s largest health insurer, Medibank. The breach exposed the personal information of 9.7 million Australians, which was then posted online. Authorities are still investigating, and further sanctions may be issued. The Australian Home Affairs Minister described this as the most damaging cyber attack Australia has ever experienced.
