MedCrypt, a startup based in California, has won the HIMSS Venture Connect startup contest by offering APIs that help medical device companies protect against hackers and security breaches. The APIs enable encryption and cryptographic signing to validate all instructions sent to a device, as well as managing public keys and monitoring for potential breaches. Other startups in the program included admetsys, Keriton, SymphonyRM, WELL, and Wellpepper.
