Both received similar ratings from independent labs. However, Norton scored better in hands-on malware protection tests and provided superior firewall protection, style, ransomware defence, file backup, and security features compared to McAfee. The two products tied on VPN protection. Norton emerged as the clear overall winner in this comparison.
