Matt Hancock at Covid inquiry after he said ‘toxic culture’ hindered pandemic response

Former UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock told a Covid inquiry that introducing restrictions earlier in 2021 could have prevented school closures and resulted in less economic damage. He also admitted that his personal “transgressions” had damaged public confidence in Covid regulations. He said he despaired over the government’s flawed tier system and said earlier lockdowns could have significantly reduced Covid deaths.
