Malware-as-a-Service Lowers the Technology Bar for Threat Actors

More than half of cyber threats against organizations are now malware-as-a-service (MaaS) related, as cybercriminals continue to outsource their operations. Research from Darktrace showed that MaaS tools made up 57% of identified fraud activities. The most common attack method remains phishing; Darktrace has uncovered over 30 million phishing emails in just one year. Cybercriminals increasingly use artificial intelligence to construct complex convincing schemes to manipulate recipients. The growing availability of advanced tools through cybercrime-as-a-service platforms present a mounting threat to organizations.
