Majority of health orgs saw significant security incidents in 2017, HIMSS survey finds

A new survey by HIMSS reveals that 76% of healthcare organizations experienced a significant security incident in the past year, with phishers, negligent insiders, and hackers being the main culprits. However, the severity of breaches has diminished year over year, and 68% of incidents were discovered internally. While resources for cybersecurity have increased for many organizations, some still lack funding and dedicated personnel in this area. The report emphasizes the need for proactive steps and making cybersecurity a genuine priority.
