Personal information of over a million Maine residents was stolen during a data breach attributed to a Russian ransomware gang, according to the state’s government. The security breach, which targeted residents’ names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, driver’s license data and other identification numbers, happened through a vulnerability in the state’s file-transfer system. Over half of the stolen data is linked to Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services.
