Lucy Letby inquiry told poorly performing NHS managers should be ‘disqualified’

The Thirlwall Inquiry into the crimes of child killer nurse Lucy Letby heard calls for tougher regulation of NHS managers. Sir Robert Francis KC proposed that poor-performing non-clinical directors should face sanctions, in the same way unfit doctors can be investigated by the General Medical Council. He suggested implementing a system of regulation to disqualify unfit individuals from holding NHS senior roles. He highlighted concerns that without such regulation, unsuitable directors could switch roles without scrutiny.
