Louisiana investigating second abortion pill case against New York doctor

The Louisiana Attorney General is investigating a New York doctor for reportedly mailing abortion medication to a woman in Shreveport, Louisiana, who miscarried at 20 weeks and discarded the fetus. The doctor, Margaret Carpenter, had previously been indicted for a similar case. Proposed legislation in Louisiana would make it easier to penalize providers mailing abortion medication. However, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has refused to comply with extradition requests for Carpenter, citing protections for abortion providers in her state.
