The group is believed to be behind the most deployed ransomware variant worldwide in 2022. The U.S., Australia, Canada, UK, Germany, France, and New Zealand noted the high frequency of LockBit attacks in their countries. LockBit, which often exploits known vulnerabilities to gain access, has reportedly raked in $91 million in ransom from U.S. victims since January 2020.
