Lifespan will pay Providence, R.I., $1.5 million over three years in its first formal payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) agreement. Contributions of $750,000 are due in fiscal years 2025 and 2026. Previously, Lifespan was the city’s only major nonprofit without such an agreement, citing financial pressures, including operating losses and executive position cuts.
