His collection, dubbed ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame West’, included 18,000 vinyl LPs, 12,000 CDs, 10,000 45s, 4,000 cassettes, 600 78s and 150 8-tracks. Unique items such as drumsticks from Nirvana, a microphone from Prince and a neon Beach Boys sign were also lost. The collection had been curated from an early age with Springer beginning his collection at 6, asking his mother for a record of Elvis’s ‘Hound Dog’.
