Kali Linux, evolved from BackTrack and is renowned for penetration testing, audits and forensics, whereas ParrotOS is designed with privacy in mind. However, both are better suited to users with a high degree of Linux knowledge, rather than beginners. Other more user-friendly options for newcomers would include Ubuntu, Fedora Linux and Linux Mint.
