Johnson says 4.8 million Americans won't lose Medicaid access 'unless they choose to do so'

Speaker Mike Johnson has defended President Trump’s controversial health care bill, claiming that projections of 4.8 million individuals losing their insurance cover due to work requirements are false and that they will only lose it “unless they choose to do so.” The bill would require states to impose work requirements on childless adults aged 19-64. Johnson also stated those complaining about losing coverage are doing so “because they can’t fulfill the paperwork.”
