Is your confidential info safe? More can be done to beef up personal data protection rules, say experts

The Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) became law in Singapore in 2012, setting a minimum standard for protecting personal data. However, the legislation’s punishments for breaches are viewed as secondary deterrents and more preemptive measures should be adopted, according to experts. They called on businesses to question the data they collect and store, and vendors to implement better IT provisions.
