Check Point Research and Sygnia have linked the Iranian group Scarred Manticore to a new espionage campaign. The campaign uses a previously unknown malware framework, LIONTAIL, to target high-profile organisations, including those in telecommunications, military, and government sectors. Active since 2019, Scarred Manticore targets Middle Eastern countries in line with Iranian interests. The group’s evolving tools demonstrate the increased sophistication of recent Iranian cyber attacks.
