The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has blocked 30,000 devices infected with the Android malware BadBox, including media players and digital picture frames. The devices, pre-loaded with BadBox, give cyber-criminals unauthorized access to sensitive data and control. To lessen the damage, the BSI redirected the devices’ communication away from the control servers through a “sinkholing” measure. The BSI recommends disconnecting infected devices and checking for potential vulnerabilities.
