Investigating fertilized ACL surgery’s impact on return to play in athletes

The Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine is conducting a large-scale trial on fertilized anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, a procedure using the patient’s stem cells, bone marrow and autograft bone, which has potentially halved recovery times. Patients from aged 14 to 26 can apply to the trial, which will track movement, reaction time, joint angles and acceleration, among other things, up to two years post-surgery.
