International cooperation: PlugX malware deleted from US computers

The FBI and the US Department of Justice have remotely removed the PlugX malware from over 4,200 computers in the US, according to an official statement. The court-approved action targeted the suspected China-backed hacker group “Mustang Panda.” The PlugX malware, which has affected government and company systems worldwide since its 2008 detection, permits unauthorized system access, data theft, and system control. This malware was found in over 170 countries.
