Infusion Firm Faces Lawsuit After Hackers Hit Parent Company

Amerita is facing a federal class action lawsuit following a cyberattack on its parent company, PharMerica. The breach, which affected nearly 6 million individuals, saw an unknown third party access certain data including medical history, diagnoses and health insurance details. Amerita’s own breach affected 220,000 individuals. The cybercrime group Money Message claimed responsibility for the attack, threatening to reveal at least 1.6 million records of personal data. The lawsuits allege negligent data security procedures and failure to protect sensitive information.
