The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has been targeted by hackers in a cyberattack with around 6,000 attempted breaches of its website. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) was able to block these attempts and trace the hackers’ IP back to Hong Kong. The ICMR was able to fend off the attack due to the protection provided by NIC’s firewall and other security measures. This attack is part of a larger trend of cyberattacks against the Indian healthcare industry, with 1.9 million recorded attacks this year alone.
