NHS Scotland has allegedly been targeted by a cyberattack by INC Ransom, who claims to have obtained 3 terabytes of sensitive data. A similar attack was also reported at NHS Dumfries and Galloway. The NHS has previously fallen victim to a widespread cyberattack, notably the WannaCry ransomware in 2017 and 2020, resulting from the use of outdated systems.
