Imprivata, DigiCert team up on EPCS technology to tighten opioid prescription access

Electronic prescribing for controlled substances, particularly opioids, is being adopted as a powerful tool in the fight against the national opioid epidemic. Imprivata and DigiCert have partnered to offer a streamlined identity proofing process called Imprivata Confirm ID, which facilitates compliance with electronic prescription regulations. This system enhances convenience and security for verified healthcare practitioners while reducing the opportunities for fraud or abuse. Thirteen US states have already passed laws requiring electronic prescribing, and it will become mandatory for Medicare Part D by 2021.
