IDC and Gartner on blockchain: What CIOs should be doing now

Blockchain technology holds promise for improving electronic health records (EHRs), enabling interoperability, enhancing data cybersecurity, and streamlining supply chains in healthcare. However, the adoption of blockchain in healthcare faces hurdles, including the need for decentralization within existing business models. Research suggests that only a small percentage of healthcare organizations have adopted or plan to adopt blockchain. Despite challenges, blockchain could reshape healthcare interoperability and address issues such as duplicate records and incomplete claims information. It remains to be seen whether blockchain will truly revolutionize healthcare interoperability.
