A massive data breach has exposed the sensitive data of over 815 million Indian citizens on the dark web, including Aadhaar and passport numbers, names, phone numbers, and addresses. The data leakage was discovered by US-based cybersecurity and intelligence company, Resecurity. The revelation of this sizable data leak has sparked concern over the security measures protecting citizens’ personal information. A threat actor, “pwn0001”, reportedly offered $80,000 for the complete dataset.

T-Mobile has agreed to pay a $15.75 million fine and improve its security in a settlement over a series of data breaches over three years
