I found a malicious Chrome extension on my system – here’s how and what I did next

A recent report by Ars Technica revealed 33 Chrome extensions infected with malware, one of which was identified by ZDNET’s David Gewirtz on his computer. The discovery led Gewirtz to thoroughly clean his Chrome installations on multiple devices, run malware checks, and change passwords on his most frequently used sites. He advises users to check their own extensions and follow his clean-up process if they find any malware.
