Human error still top contributor to data breaches

According to a study by Mimecast, 95% of data breaches in 2024 were due to human error, largely driven by insider threats. The study revealed 43% of respondents encountered more internal threats over the past year and expect a rise in insider-driven data loss. Though most believed that formal security strategy has enhanced cybersecurity, concerns remain over possible attacks linked to collaboration tools, email security challenges, and AI-driven threats.
