Data breaches in UK law firms are primarily caused by insiders and human error, according to an analysis of data from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) by NetDocuments. Around 60% of breaches in the sector from Q3 2022 – Q2 2023 happened because of internal players, impacting data related to 4.2 million people. Major causes also included sharing data with the wrong individual and phishing or ransomware attacks.
