The HSHS hospital system and Prevea Health are recovering from a cyberattack, causing some appointments to be postponed. The attack also restricted patients’ access to their online portal for services. Officials are presently unclear if patient data was compromised. HSHS is working with law enforcement to restore services and improve system security. Both organizations have paused collecting payments and suspended billing services. Cyberattacks on healthcare organizations have been increasing, affecting 40 million Americans in the first half of 2023.
