How to Reduce the Risk of LockBit Ransomware as Victim List Grows

The LockBit ransomware gang, linked to Russia, has been charged with further cybercrimes by Canadian officials. Known for its “double extortion” tactics, LockBit encrypts local data and extracts it, threatening public exposure unless a ransom is paid. Their methods include exploitation, infiltration, deployment, and negotiation. It is recommended to use strong passwords and multi-factor authentication, regularly audit user account permissions, ensure configuration, patching, and system backups, and deploy AI-driven prevention solutions to combat ransomware attacks.
