How to make Infrastructure as Code secure by default

The adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) requires a concentrated effort to ensure security, given inherent risks such as human error. Strategies include maintaining updated IaC templates, scanning templates pre- and post-deployment and correcting identified issues. Automated remediation tools can inadvertently cause more issues, while making applications the source of truth for infrastructure reduces manual work and potential errors. Abstraction and automation tools that generate infrastructure from application code offer a way to make IaC secure by default.
