A lack of trust towards service providers is preventing four out of ten Europeans from using some digital services, according to a survey by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. However, nearly seven out of ten Europeans believe it should be possible to identify digital services that use data fairly. Stakeholders in Europe are attempting to implement patient consent and permit-based data sharing in research networks to establish trust and ensure sensitive data is not misused. Sitra’s IHAN project aims to build a framework for a fair and functioning data economy in Europe.
