IU Health has removed noncompete clauses from its contracts with primary care providers to aid patient outcomes and remedy concerns over healthcare access. The elimination of noncompete agreements is believed to enhance retention and reduce recruitment costs, and won’t financially impact the health system, according to Kevin Gebke, MD, senior VP of community medicine at IU Health. It follows the Federal Trade Commission’s decision to ban noncompete agreements in April.
