How Do Health Expenditures Vary Across the Population?

The 2021 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) revealed that 5% of the population accounted for almost half of all health spending, while the bottom 50% of the population only accounted for 3%. The Peterson-Kaiser Health System Tracker also examined spending variations concerning age, gender, race, insurance status, and health conditions.
