Hospital regulators have taken action against an NHS trust after patients ingested batteries and screws due to inadequate checks. The Brooklands hospital in Birmingham, serving adults with autism and learning disabilities, was heavily criticised by the Care Quality Commission. The watchdog issued a warning notice ordering “significant improvements”. Since the March inspection, improvements seem to have been made with improved staffing levels, safety measures and patient care.
