The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs Stafford’s County Hospital, witnessed over 9,428 instances of A&E patients waiting more than 12 hours for a bed in 2022/23, more than double the previous year’s figure. The percentage of patients waiting less than four hours also fell to 63.5%, below the national target of 76%. Measures to ease the delays include the Front Door Reconfiguration and the Referral and Admission Policy. Trust CEO Tracy Bullock said the improvements indicate they’re heading in the right direction.
