Hospital staff ‘unable to access patient data’ and ‘forced to take paper notes’ amid repeated system outages

Repeated outages to the electronic patient records at the biggest NHS Trust in Manchester have resulted in lost patient data and led to staff being unable to access key data. This led to cancellations of appointments and surgeries, and staff had to take paper notes which will now have to be scanned back into the system. Despite a ‘hardware fault’ being addressed over the weekend causing the outages, all A&Es reportedly remained open and patients were told to attend appointments as normal.
