Hospital breach increase ‘alarming’ | Barnsley Chronicle

Barnsley Hospital violated a NHS rule against mixed-sex wards 11 times last year, according to report. The rule, established in 2010, maintains patients of different sexes must not share wards unless exceptions apply, like consent or necessity of specialised care. Breaches have doubled nationally over the past five years; however, fines were dropped in April 2021 due to the challenges caused by the Covid pandemic.
