Hong Kong watchdog slams sports club for sloppy cybersecurity ahead of data breach

Hong Kong’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data found that the South China Athletic Association (SCAA) did not take necessary steps to protect its members’ personal data. The criticism followed a breach in March that affected around 72,000 members. The watchdog commented on the SCAA’s lack of data protection awareness and underlined the importance of effective information system security measures.
